The Virgin Islands are on the edge of the Caribbean Sea. They were first discovered in 1493, by Columbus. Spanish explores paved the way for Dutch, British and the Americans. All these explorers influenced the mood and style islandss of the building and clothing of the islands. The Islands are volcanic in nature for the most part. Rocks and boulders form the Archipe[ago around the islands formimg a reef with a thin crusting of coral. The average depth around most islands is 70 feet. deep. The islands are one the most popular diving destinations in the Caribbean ocean. Most of the Virgin Islands are influenced by the Gulf Stream, which passes from the Caribbean up to the Atlantic ocean. This stream of current has a high nutrient level that brings a large diversity of fish and good coral growth. There are a lot of sightings of Octopus, Lobster, and Shrimp. All the beautiful sponges, coral and fish will take your breath away.
I have heard .Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by moments that take our breath away. Due to the vast number of safe anchorages and secluded bays the Islands provide a beautiful location snorkeling and shore dives. Snorkeling provides a good way to relax with friends, enjoy the shallow marine life and give time between dives. Dive boats generally are the way to most of the popular sites. The experienced crew can choose sites that meet the desires of the divers and their experience level. There is a big difference in diving when the sun goes down. Night diving is another wonderful experience: (ADDITIONAL TRAINING SHOULD BE TAKEN, TO INSURE SAFETY OF ALL . A dive lights illuminates a small area, but so much color, everything has more color because you are adding light that is normally absorbed by the water. There are fish that sleep at night but the octopus and a lot of other sea life is on the move like animals with shells. A good experience to share with a buddy.-
